Ok, let me clarify the title of this post. I’m sure there are far-more well traveled people compared to me, but I’m hardly the ‘Born here, will die here’ type. I was born in Wales in the 70s (no, there’s no need to go deeper than that). My first relocation (well, actually my parents relocated and I had no choice) was in the following year when I was one, to Wisbech in Cambridgeshire. 5 years after, we all moved to India, where I was to live in Kolkata until I was 17. I moved again with my family, to sunny Scunthorpe this time, in Yorkshire. The year after (we’re in the early 90s now), we moved to Hull, still in Yorkshire. I was ready for university, and for the first time in my life, moved away and alone to London, where I was going to be, on and off, for the next 11 years. In 1999, I decided to spend the final six months of my degree (Chemistry) in Zurich, Switzerland. After a few more years studying and working in London, I decided to spend 2 months studying and traveling in the States. Little did I know that this trip would be my intro to the next phase in my life, which is still continuing, in the US. I met the love of my life in the early 2000s in London. He had lived in the US since he was 5 and was at the time based in Chicago. We got married and I moved to the windy city. After a few blissful years, he applied to Apple in Silicon Valley and got the job! So in 2008, we packed our bags and headed for the Golden State. After 9 sunny and happy years in Northern Cali with a delightful daughter gracing our lives, we decided that we really wanted to live in a big city. As if by magic, hubby applied to and got his desired job in, wait for it, New York City. Finally, the chance to live in the Big Apple AND be closer to my family in Europe was too good to pass. After lots of sacrifices (all worth it), we moved to the Upper East Side in June 2017. We are living in a dream. Is this our last relocation? If the past is any indication, I’d say no :). But right now, we are and fully intend to enjoy every since second of our adventurous life.
